Camilo R. Gomez, MD, MBA
Dr. Camilo R. Gomez is a board-certified vascular, critical care, and interventional neurologist whose career spans more than four decades of clinical practice, academic leadership, and professional education. Recognized as an early architect of modern stroke systems, he has combined clinical innovation with a sustained commitment to teaching, mentoring, and developing high-performance medical teams.
Throughout his academic appointments at four major U.S. medical schools, Dr. Gomez has trained and mentored generations of medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty. His educational philosophy extends well beyond traditional instruction. He teaches disciplined clinical reasoning, structured decision-making, and leadership under pressure. In both formal lectures and small-group settings, he emphasizes clarity of thought, accountability, and the integration of technical expertise with sound judgment. Many of his former trainees now serve in leadership roles across academic and private practice settings.
As a coach and advisor, Dr. Gomez works with physicians, executives, and interdisciplinary teams to refine professional performance and strengthen organizational culture. His keynote presentations and executive workshops address decision science, risk management, systems thinking, and the intersection of empathy with critical analysis. He is known for delivering content that is practical, intellectually rigorous, and immediately applicable to real-world challenges.
His academic background is complemented by formal business training at the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee and certification as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
